Benchmark Surveys

Do you know how much you should be spending on marketing? On sales commissions? On R&D and tech support?

Within the software industry, which marketing activities produce the best results? What's the cost of a qualified lead? How much revenue does a typical sales rep generate? Where do ISVs earn the bulk of their profits?

You can find all these answers and more in SoftwareCEO's unique Benchmark Surveys.

Each survey contains detailed financial metrics for all sizes and types of software companies, though the vast majority of responses we receive are from privately-held ISVs.

You can easily compare your company's expenses, profits, marketing activities, and sales successes against industry norms.

Here's how it works:
If you're a logged-in, paid Site Member, click on any of the links below. Each one will take you to a separate online survey. The surveys average 30 questions each, and should take no more than 15 minutes.

When you've finished entering the data for your own company - it's completely anonymous - we'll send you an e-mail containing two links:

  • A link to a page that shows how you answered the survey, and
  • A link to a compilation of all responses received to date.

In the compiled results, you can view tabulated responses in real-time on a single web page. You can also copy the data into your own document.

While taking the survey, you'll also have the chance to opt-in to receive periodic updates. If you elect this, we'll periodically send you comprehensive results, including means, medians, and key findings.

After you've taken a survey, you can access the report as often as you want, as long as your SoftwareCEO Site Membership is current.

Again, all responses are completely anonymous; no identifying data are revealed to anyone.
