If you were to create a checklist of the primary ingrediecnts (components) of an SDK what would you be sure to include?

For example, support docs, APIs, scripts, examples, templates, etc.

Thank you,

I would consider your list as the offline components of an SDK. I do not have any major components to add.

It is quite useful to support the product with online components such as a blog where you publish hints, new examples and an open/closed forum. Whitepapers are also useful depending on your market.

By the way, the "perfect SDK" must have a perfect API (see some API design rules and practices here: http://apidesign.wordpress.com/) and a perfect doc.

I am still on my quest for good reading material and/or advice from a business perspective regarding API/SDK design, sales and managment practicies.

Thank you,

Ken
