Hi friends,
I am new to this forum and found it good. We are into medical software marketing (SaaS).
Can anyone provide me information on how we can market it efficiently? How are the AdWords? Where we will get good leads to call? Or is there any other marketing method?
We market only in US. Cold calling has given us bad results. We are going to try AdWords!
Thanks

Sounded like a marketing question to me, so I moved your question to the Marketing forum.

Why don't you start by reading http://www.softwareceo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2792

I want to know whatÂ?s the reason that nobody wonÂ?t buy unless have a Doctor ready, can you explain pls? How the other medical software companies survive?

Your question is too generic. Can you be more specific?

Start with the the 5Ws of your market (who, what, when, where & why). Marketing strategy needs to support the way people buy.

Because medical doctors only buy from other doctors. It's a cultural issue.

This has come up in the past when I was involved with a radiological network, and more recently with the health record initiative>.

Basically, doctors (and lawyers and computer programmers and pilots and ...) think they are the smartest people on earth, and that therefore no one could possibly understand their problems other than another doctor.

"The sale does not happen because the customer understands your solution; the sale happens because the customer perceives that you understand his problem."

Isaac Asinov was a PhD. in biochemistry. He taught at a medical school. MDs do not respect other "doctors."

Hi,
We just finished a major marketing push for www.medworxx.com. Importantly, you must identify your target market within the medical community. Is it a Physician? Management? Once you determine this, you can begin to narrow down how and who you should market to.
Hope this helps, m

This is an EXTREMELY crowded market. I have consulting with a medical software company in the past, and in my research into the market I found nearly 1000 companies marketing physician management packages of one sort or another. You need to take a full look at what you are doing--pricing, product differentiation, distribution and promotion--what I call a 4Ps analysis. There could be many reasons why you aren't making sales. Cold-calling is always hard, and if it is the sole method it almost always leads to failure.

Adwords is a great place to start on the promotion side, but I would anticipate the bidding to be highly competitive in this space, and won't be a panecea. You need to look at multiple possible methods to promote your product, as well as other aspects of the process of making sales.

Cold calling has given us bad results.

I wouldn't give up entirely on cold calling. You don't have to do a lot but I would continue to do some each day / week (about 50 per week).

I always think it makes sense to just ask prospects.

Call up some of the people who originally expressed interest in your software and ask why they didn't buy. You can guess why things aren't working and we can guess, but why not ask? They won't necessarily tell you the whole truth--they won't want to hurt your feelings--but you'll get some feedback.

Also, see if you can find some people--maybe friends or friends of friends--who are in this industry. Get them to spend an hour with you looking at the software and telling you what they think.

If you've got users, ask them why they bought your software. Then use that same language when you talk to prospects.
