ChoicePoint Nailed Again By FTC For Data Security Violations

ChoicePoint can't stay out of trouble with the FTC.

Back in 20006, the FTC brought suit against ChoicePoint, and ChoicePoint settled by agreeing to pay $15,000.

The FTC alleged again in April 2008 that ChoicePoint exposed the social security numbers and other personal information of 13,750 people. This time ChoicePoint agreed to pay $275,000.

Data security violations can be expensive.

To aviod a similar fate, review the FTC's guidelines in my article: Privacy & Data Security: Follow FTC Guidelines... Or Suffer The Consequences .
